25 times Afrobeats stars have created hits sampling classic songs

Sampling is becoming more popular in Nigerian music.

The art of borrowing from the past to create new music is a way of paying homage to the rich music that shaped different eras of Nigerian music.

Across Nigerian mainstream music, artists have sampled classic Nigerian songs to create hit records.

Recently, singer Johnny Drille sampled the classic street hit 'Ekwe' by Stereoman while Adekunle Gold also borrowed from Musiliu Ishola's 'Soyoyo' for his hit single 'Rodo'.
