Paul Okoye reacts to Will Smith slapping Chris Rock at the Oscars

Reactions have continued to pour in after Smith's altercation with Chris Rock.

Nigerian singer Paul Okoye has predicted that Nigerian comedians will suffer a similar fate as Chris Rock in the future.

Chris Rock was slapped by actor Will Smith at the Oscars on Sunday, March 27, 2022.

In a post shared via his Instagram Stories, the member of the music group, PSquare, revealed that comedians will suffer similar fate because Nigerians are known for 'copy and paste' attitudes.

"Naija comedians go calm down a bit. Will Smith don open doors for some people. Please do not allow yourself to be used as the Naija version of the Oscars. Naija sabi copy and paste," he wrote.

On Sunday night during the awards, Rock took to the stage where he made a joke about Smith's wife, Jada's bald head.

“Jada, I love you, ‘G.I. Jane 2,’ can’t wait to see it,” but while the “King Richard” star first laughed about the joke, he immediately turned sour.

Smith walked up to Rock and slapped him. A few seconds later, Rock responded, “Wow, Will Smith just smacked the s–t out of me” before defending what was “just a ‘G.I. Jane’ joke.”

But the Oscar-winning actor was not having it and again screamed, “Keep my wife’s name out of your f–king mouth.”

“That was the greatest night in the history of television,” Rock remarked.

Several celebrities across the world have expressed diverse opinions over what might be one of the biggest entertainment highlights of the year.
